Smashing Pumpkins quiere lanzar dos EPs con material nuevo

Al menos así lo asegura Billy Corgan.

Al parecer, la reunión de Smashing Pumpkins será mucho más que una gira.

A través de sus redes sociales, Billy Corgan comunicó el estado actual de la banda, que semanas atrás anunció su regreso junto a lo miembros originales James Iha y Jimmy Chamberlin.

«El plan previsto es lanzar las canciones en dos EPs de cuatro canciones, con un primer adelanto que probablemente se estrenará en mayo», escribió el líder de la banda, asegurando que se encuentran dando los toques finales en el estudio, junto al productor Rick Rubin.

Corgan se describió «muy complacido con esta música… (todo) Comienza con una canción, pero termina con un entendimiento. Lo que me hace reír. Y sentirme agradecido».

SP update: So almost all the musical side is done with 2 days to go, leaving background vocals and last minute touches/flourishes/drang. For those who missed it, the 8 songs are as titled: Solara, Marchin’ On, Travels, Seek and You Shall Destroy, With Sympathy, Knights of Malta, Silvery Sometimes (Ghosts), and Alienation. The intended plan being to release the songs over two, four song E.P.’s, with a first song most likely due out in May. Also, we just did a long-ranging interview for the New York Times, which given the questions asked will address many of the things we get asked about here on IG. I like this picture because it makes me laugh. As they like to say in wrestling, the biggest marks are in the back, behind the curtain. Last day today in Malibu. I’m very happy about that, but it does not make me laugh. James, Jimmy, and Jeff have put in a spectacular effort and we hope you will be pleased when you hear the results. So, to that, only background vocals on 4 songs are left. One of which will be tackled by a kind of mini-choir. That’s today’s last act. Details on the release of this music coming very soon. Thankfully due to digital technologies we can get these songs to you quickly. As it should be. Speaking personally, I’m very pleased with this music, and it reminds me (the process, that is) why we work well together as a team. It starts with a song, of course, but ends with an understanding. Recordemos que en el mes de julio se iniciará el tour de Smashing Pumpkins, por ahora agendado solo en Estados Unidos.
